Filmmaker James Cameron backs out of global warming debate he organized

Ahead of this conference, Cameron challenged three noted global warming skeptics to a public debate where he was going to personally "call those deniers out into the street at high noon and shoot it out with those boneheads."

And then, yesterday, just one day before the debate, his representatives sent an email that Mr. "shoot it out " Cameron no longer wanted to take part. The debate was cancelled.

Cameron backed out of the debate at the last minute after environmentalists "came out of the woodwork" to warn him not to engage in a debate with skeptics because it was not in his best interest. [...]

According to AREDAY organizers, activist Joseph Romm of Climate Progress urged Cameron not to go ahead with the debate as well.

Romm making this suggestion is certainly no surprise, for last April he got trounced in a debate with Morano. Dismayed by his defeat, Romm barred any articles by Morano to be linked to at Climate Progress and attacked me for writing about the encounter.

Still more proof of the scam called "man-made global warming"
Read the article, every rule change for the debate that Cameron wanted was agreed to, and yet he still chickened out.
And Mr. Gore has yet to call Stossel, who has an open challenge to the Goremeister to debate about it.

Wimp.

If they are so sure, then why not debate, instead of trying to say that the debate is over.

The debate hasn't happened yet.

This is a movie producer/director. Seriously? Maybe the dissemination of the information from non intellectuals is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

I believe that temps have been higher in recent years. Probably secondary to the increase in geologic activity. That is potential energy which after the movement/eruption etc releases energy in the form of heat. Hence, higher temps.

I also believe that we can and should do better about our collective destruction of resources. But I ain't gonna drive a damn prius.

Lol. Maybe they should ask Sean Penn. Or Alec Baldwin. Al gore is too busy with "hands on" massages.

LOL jrone - Perhaps unlike Al Gore, James Cameron didn't see a "happy ending" to the global warming debate!

I read an interesting article this morning regarding wind power and how little it reduces carbon emissions. Why? because wind is unpredictable and that means the power companies need to keep their coal fired plants going or constantly cycle them up and down. Two separate studies one by the Navy and the other by another government agency estimates the most it would ever reduce carbon emissions is less than 5% and that is way out in the future sometime. In the near term it increases carbon emissions

You can't debate with climate change deniers because they refuse to acknowledge facts and insist the the whole notion of global climate change is a hoax. There is no point in sitting on a dais and dignifying by debating with it an ignorant state of mind that rejects science as if science is subjective alarmist deception and their point of view is really just common sense.

They don't have any consistency. They say that there is no climate change in progress, but, oh well, even if there is some climate change mankind didn't cause it so why should mankind try to alter his outrageous consumption and polluting.

The deniers are boneheads and dangerous Luddites who would lead us if they could into a situation of no return.

Of course it was not in his best interest. A debate like this would cause more people to figure out that the whole "man made global warming thing is a lie.

Great seed.
